Ladies,
I have some approximate yardage calculations for you. These are approximates because you may choose to varry your blocks differently from what I chose on my computer program to get the measurements. Remember it's always better to have more than enough than not enough fabric.
Lap size (15 blocks) with a 2 inch sashing and inner border
and a 4 inch outer border.
Background fabric...1 3/4 yards ( I would get two yards and be safe)
4 other fabrics varying between 3/4 and 1 yard
Sashing and Inside border fabric 1 1/8 yards
Squares that meet at each intersection of the sashing and inside border 1/4 yard
Outside border 2 1/4 yards
Binding (straight not bias) 3/8 yard
Backing with a horizontal seam 2 7/8 yard
or
Backing with a vertical seam 4 7/16 yard
Almost Twin (20 blocks) with a 2 1/2 inch sashing and inner border
and a 4-5 inch outer border.
Background fabric... 2 yards ( I would get 2 1/4 yards and be safe)
4 other fabrics about 1 1/4 yard
Sashing and Inside border fabric 1 1/2 yards
Squares that meet at each intersection of the sashing and inside border 1/4 yard
Outside border 2 3/8 yards
Binding (straight not bias) 3/8 yard
Backing with a horizontal seam 3 13/16 yard
or
Backing with a vertical seam 4 5/8 yard
