Lay all the block pieces out next to your machine.
Sew together all 1/4 squares first. Press open and put back in place. 
Sew together all 1/2 squares next. 
Sew the squares together into the 5 rows. Make sure the rows are straight and not bowing one direction or another. 
Next you'll sew the rows together. Pin the rows at each seam. If you have to ease in fabric then pin midway between the seams as well.
