Binding the Quilt: Four Separate Binding Pieces Part 3

Start with the bottom picture in this post.
Thread your needle with a single thickness of Hand Quilting Thread.
Tie a double knot in the end about 1/2 inch from the end of the thread.
Start by bringing the needle in through the quilt top/back about 1/2 inch away from the corner you will start sewing. Do not go through the opposite side of the quilt. The thread should "travel" between the quilt layers with the needle coming out where you want to start the sewing.
When your knot is next to the fabric then gently tug until it goes through the top layer of fabric. If you have any excess thread end sticking out then trim it away.
Continue pinning until the entire third side of the quilt binding is pinned down.
Fold in the end of the binding the same way you did at the start of this third edge.
Both the start and end of this binding will need to be sewn together. You can choose how to hide your knot or use my method.

Next, fold the length of the binding over and pin in place.

Once you sew this on, turn over the quilt.
First fold in the extra 1/4 to 1/2 inch you left hanging over the edge.

Once the first two sides are back whip stitched down then place the binding on the third side, leaving 1/4 to 1/2 inch hanging off each side.
Pin this in place and sew with a 1/4 inch seam allowance using the even feed foot if you have one.
