Tumbling Blocks Assembly Part 1

Once you have traced the 18 diamonds on the freezer paper cut them out and press them to the back of your three fabrics. 6 for each fabric. Trim the fabric about 1/4 inch from the edges of the freezer paper. You don't need to be exact on this but you also don't want extra bulk under the blocks.

Remember you need a light, medium and dark value to get the 3-d effect. Use a copy machine to test the three fabrics of your choice.
Lay out the fabric for each block.
Using the freezer paper method taught in the other blocks, sew two sides of the block together. Press away from the dark...you want the dark to recede.
Next, pin the third side on to the left side of the block, use the freezer paper as your guide. Sew. Turn this third piece while on or off the machine, whichever method you have found works best for you. Sew it to the block's right side(my flower print).
The finished block section should look like this. Press all seams away from the darker colors. Your seam on the bottom should line up with the point on the top diamond.
